Senior Backend Engineer
Lead backend engineering for a high-integrity payments ledger using Node.js and PostgreSQL. Own the write path, ensure nightly reconciliation accuracy, manage queue-based workflows, review team interfaces, and participate in on-call rotations to maintain robust financial services.
About the role
You will own the services behind our payments ledger: the write path that must be correct under load, the nightly reconciliation process, and the interfaces that two other teams build against. The work primarily involves Node.js and PostgreSQL, with a queue system as an intermediary.
What you'll do
Own the ledger write path end to end.
Maintain correct and explainable reconciliation processes.
Review and ensure quality of interfaces other teams depend on.
Participate in the on-call rotation with three other engineers.
What we're looking for
Five or more years building services that handle money or equivalently unforgiving domains.
Deep expertise in PostgreSQL.
Comfortable reasoning about concurrency and transactional integrity rather than guessing.
